Jeff Caynon


Jeffrey A. Caynon is a proud native Texan. He and his wife of 15 years, Gail, have three children. They enjoy traveling, SCUBA diving, hiking and camping.

Jeff is a captain in the Houston Fire Department. He has served the citizens of Houston since 1995 as a firefighter, paramedic and a hazardous materials technician.

For 13 years he was an active leader in the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) local affiliate in Houston the Houston Professional Firefighters Association (IAFF Local 341), serving in various positions including two terms as president.

In 2011, Jeff graduated from the Harvard Trade Union Program, an executive leadership program for labor leaders.

He was chosen by the IAFF's general president to serve on the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1710 Committee (Staffing of Fire Department Heavy Apparatus) and the IAFF's Hazmat Advisory Board from 2007 to 2013. He was also selected to represent the 300,000 members of the IAFF in congressional budget hearings in 2012.

Jeff was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the ROTC program at Prairie View A&M and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He received a B.A. in political science from the University of Houston.
